Workday Prism Analytics Get Activity

Introduction

A Workday Prism Analytics Get activity, using its Workday Prism Analytics connection, retrieves a specified table or wBucket or retrieve a list of all tables or wBuckets from Workday Prism Analytics, and is intended to be used as a source to provide data in an operation.

Create a Workday Prism Analytics Get Activity

An instance of a Workday Prism Analytics Get activity is created from a Workday Prism Analytics connection using its Get activity type.

To create an instance of a Workday Prism Analytics Get activity, drag the Get activity type to the design canvas or copy the Get activity type and paste it on the design canvas. For details, see Creating an Activity Instance in Component Reuse.

An existing Workday Prism Analytics Get activity can be edited from these locations:

Configure a Workday Prism Analytics Get Activity

Follow these steps to configure a Workday Prism Analytics Get activity:

Step 1: Enter a Name and Select Workday Prism Analytics Object

Workday Prism Analytics Get Activity Configuration Step 1

  • Name: Enter a name to identify the Workday Prism Analytics Get activity. The name must be unique for each Workday Prism Analytics Get activity and must not contain forward slashes (/) or colons (:).

  • Select Workday Prism Analytics Object: This section displays Workday Prism Analytics objects available in the Workday Prism Analytics endpoint. When reopening an existing activity configuration, only the selected Workday Prism Analytics object is displayed instead of reloading the entire Workday Prism Analytics object list.

    • Selected Workday Prism Analytics Object: After a Workday Prism Analytics object is selected, it is listed here.

    • Search: Enter any part of the Workday Prism Analytics object name into the search box to filter the list of Workday Prism Analytics objects. The search is not case-sensitive. If Workday Prism Analytics objects are already displayed within the table, the table results are filtered in real time with each keystroke. To reload Workday Prism Analytics objects from the endpoint when searching, enter search criteria and then refresh, as described below.

    • Refresh: Click the refresh icon Refresh icon or the word Refresh to reload Workday Prism Analytics objects from the Workday Prism Analytics endpoint. This may be useful if Workday Prism Analytics objects have been added to Workday Prism Analytics. This action refreshes all metadata used to build the table of Workday Prism Analytics objects displayed in the configuration.

    • Selecting a Workday Prism Analytics Object: Within the table, click anywhere on a row to select a Workday Prism Analytics object. Only one Workday Prism Analytics object can be selected. The information available for each Workday Prism Analytics object is fetched from the Workday Prism Analytics endpoint:

      • Name: The Workday Prism Analytics object name from Workday Prism Analytics.

      • Description: The Workday Prism Analytics object description from Workday Prism Analytics.

    Tip

If the table does not populate with available Workday Prism Analytics objects, the Workday Prism Analytics connection may not be successful. Ensure you are connected by reopening the connection and retesting the credentials.

  • Save & Exit: If enabled, click to save the configuration for this step and close the activity configuration.

  • Next: Click to temporarily store the configuration for this step and continue to the next step. The configuration will not be saved until you click the Finished button on the last step.

  • Discard Changes: After making changes, click to close the configuration without saving changes made to any step. A message asks you to confirm that you want to discard changes.

Step 2: Review the Data Schema

  • Data Schema: The request and response data schemas for Workday Prism Analytics are displayed. If the operation uses a transformation, the data schemas are displayed again later during the transformation mapping process, where you can map to target fields using source objects, scripts, variables, custom values, and more.

The Workday Prism Analytics connector uses the Workday Prism Analytics REST API v2.0 (login to the Workday Resource Center required). Refer to the API documentation for information on the schema fields.

    • Request:

      Request Schema Field/Node Notes
json The format of the request schema
      getTableRequest Node of the getTableRequest
      table Node of the table
      name Name of the table
    • Response:

      Response Schema Field/Node Notes
json The format of the request schema
      get_response Node of the get_response
      total Total number of responses
      data Node of the data
      item Node of the item
      id Workday object ID
      createdBy Node of the createdBy
      id Unique identifier of creator
      fullName Full name of creator
      updatedBy Node of the updatedBy
      id Unique identifier of updater
  • Refresh: Click the refresh icon Refresh icon or the word Refresh to regenerate schemas from the Workday Prism Analytics endpoint. This action also regenerates the schema in other locations throughout the project where the same schema is referenced, such as in an adjacent transformation.

  • Back: Click to temporarily store the configuration for this step and return to the previous step.

  • Finished: Click to save the configuration for all steps and close the activity configuration.

  • Discard Changes: After making changes, click to close the configuration without saving changes made to any step. A message asks you to confirm that you want to discard changes.

Next Steps

After configuring a Workday Prism Analytics Get activity, complete the configuration of the operation by adding and configuring other activities, transformations, or scripts as operation steps. You can also configure the operation settings, which include the ability to chain operations together that are in the same or different workflows.

Menu actions for an activity are accessible from the project pane and the design canvas. For details, see Activity Actions Menu in Connector Basics.

Workday Prism Analytics Get activities can be used as a source with these operation patterns:

Other patterns are not valid using Workday Prism Analytics Get activities. See the validation patterns on the Operation Validity page.

To use the activity with scripting functions, write the data to a temporary location and then use that temporary location in the scripting function.

When ready, deploy and run the operation and validate behavior by checking the operation logs.
