Introduction

Project components can be grouped into custom categories, known as groups, to help you organize a project. These groups are used only as an organizational tool and don't affect the way components are referenced by Harmony. Project components can belong to multiple custom groups.

Creating a New Custom Group

Custom component groups can be created from either the project pane, or from operations on the design canvas:

  • Project Pane: In the Workflows or Components tab, hover over any component name and click the actions menu icon  to open the actions menu. From the menu, select Add to group.
  • Design Canvas: In the top right of an operation, click the actions menu icon  to open the actions menu. From the menu, select Add to group.

In the popup, select Create a new custom group and specify a name for the group. Then click Add:

The new group will be displayed in the Components tab under the Custom Groups category, containing the component that you added to the new group:

The type of component is displayed in parentheses after the component name.

Adding a Component to an Existing Group

Components can be added to existing groups from either the Workflows or Components tab of the project pane by using the component's actions menu, or they can be added by dragging and dropping components to an existing group within the Components tab:

  • Actions Menu: From either the Workflows or Components tab, hover over a component name and click the actions menu icon  to open the actions menu. From the menu, select Add to group. In the popup, select Add to an existing custom group and use the dropdown to select the appropriate group. Then click Add:

  • Drag-and-Drop: From the Components tab, drag a component name to an existing custom group under the Custom Groups category:

NOTE: Currently, an erroneous circle-backslash symbol may appear when hovering over the custom group to drop the component name. Although this symbol appears, the component can still be dropped there to add the component to the custom group.

The component will be displayed within the existing group in the Components tab under the Custom Groups category, containing the component that you added to the new group:

Removing a Component from a Group

Components can be removed from a group from the Components tabs of the project pane. Hover over a component name and click the actions menu icon  to open the actions menu. From the menu, select Remove from group:

The component will be removed from the group.

If a group contains only one component and that component is removed from the group, the group will remain, without any components in it. To delete a group, use the Ungroup option described below under Ungrouping a Group.

Renaming a Group

Groups can be renamed from the Components tabs of the project pane. Hover over a group name and click the actions menu icon  to open the actions menu. From the menu, select Rename group:

This will position the cursor on the group name in the project pane for you to make edits.

Ungrouping a Group

Groups can be disbanded from the Components tabs of the project pane. Hover over a group name and click the actions menu icon  to open the actions menu. From the menu, select Ungroup:

This will delete the group from the project pane. Note that any components that were part of the group are not deleted.
