Application Promotion Process

This video illustrates the Vinyl application promotion process. The promotion process is how a developer creates a Release build of an application, referred to in Vinyl as an "LP", and is then able to deploy that release into another environment by installing it in the target environment.

The release build process generates a file with an .LP extension. This file is what gets deployed or moved from one environment to the next. For example, you build a release in a QA environment and then deploy it into Production.

We will step through how to build a Release, install a Release, and also cover helpful troubleshooting tips using the Event History and Logs available in Vinyl.
